Creativity is not something you can turn on and off whenever you want to: sometimes it appears when you actually have to go to sleep, and when you have plenty of time to create something, there seems to be nothing of it in you. Luckily, there are some things you can do to make sure all conditions are optimal in order to boost your creativity.
When you wake up before everybody else does, there will be less distractions around you. Besides that, people are most focussed on the first things they do during a day. There are even writers that start their daily writing as early as 4 AM.
Before you start creating, pick an achievable outcome to focus on. This could be a chapter, an article, a photograph, a painting or anything else you are working on. Don’t be too ambitious: if the goal is not realistic and you will not accomplish it, it will frustrate you.
Forests, mountains and oceans all have the magical power to bring inner peace to a human being. When your mind is overloaded or empty, just take a walk in nature. This is when the best ideas are born.
When your head is full of thoughts, it can affect your focus. Write everything down before you start and close the document on your computer or (when you have written it by hand), put your notebook in a place that is not in your sight. With an empty mind, it will be easier to concentrate on your creation.
Enrich your office with inspiring quotes, plants, paintings or other eye candy. Being surrounded by pretty things will give your creativity a boost. When you are suffering from creative block, just take a look around and let the inspiration come to you. Your next big idea is just around the corner!
Working 24/7 will not do anyone any good. A short nap, coffee break or walk will give you new energy and a fresh mind. Take your time for your hobbies, you will become more relaxed and it will help you in the creative process.
