His love for fashion photography is so great that he works on his magazine whenever he has time off from his work as a surgeon. With Afi Magazine (noun for ‘’feel’’ in Greek), Conrad created a platform for photographers to share their work and find people to collaborate with. He is happy to use Peecho’s print on demand service to self-publish his work and in this interview he tells you why.

1. Can you tell us something about yourself?

‘’My name is Conrad and I am the Founder and Editor-In-Chief of Afi Magazine. My full-time job is actually working as a surgeon, but on the side I have a love for fashion photography. Over the past year I have been taken on a wild journey in photography and somehow ventured into the role of being a magazine editor. I love creating. I find inspiration everywhere, and my mind is always buzzing with new ideas.’’

2. When and why did you start Afi Mag?

‘’I love fashion photography and I particularly love shooting fashion editorials. I love the creative freedom in them and the endless possibilities to bring fashion to life. I created Afi magazine in September 2016 with the intention to showcase photography work from others that inspire me. I think the genre of fashion and beauty photography are one of the hardest to break into. You do not only have to master lighting and your camera equipment, but you also have to deal with people, and in fashion editorial, this often requires a whole team of people. I think the outcome of these efforts really deserve a place to be featured and the ability to have them in hard copies. I have some very creative friends and they have really supported my idea of starting this magazine so I gave it a go. I learnt how to use the basics of adobe InDesign in the space of a week just so I can do all the magazine editing work myself to start it off.’’

3. What is Afi Mag about?

‘’Afi is about showcasing creative fashion and beauty photography. I want photographers like myself to have a good platform to share their work to a targeted group of audience that may someday result in collaborations. There are numerous fashion editorial magazines out there and through my own publications in a number of magazines, I've picked up an insight into what contributors and readers like to see in these sort of magazines. Afi is created free to read online but also lets contributors purchase a hardcover of their work for keepsake.’’

4. Why is Peecho the solution for you?

‘’We really like using Peecho. From the first print we had with them, we were super impressed with the print quality and especially with the speed of delivery (which a lot of our readers praise). I also find that the ability to change currency is really useful on the purchase page, as our buyers are from all over the world. As an editor, it is really hassle-free to upload our finished pdf for print. I really like that there is no additional requirements on Peecho to ensure printing is right to the edges. Peecho has always been very reliable and their support team has been very helpful.’’

5. Who are your customers and how did you promote the option to print your magazine?

‘’Our customers are mainly people in the creative industry (e.g. photographers, stylists, makeup artists, hairstylists, models etc etc). We link Peecho directly onto our website as well as onto our Facebook store. Both are very simple to do and links straight to the Peecho store.’’
