Kristel Vrolijk started Boekje voor jou (meaning Small Book for You) over 10 years ago in the Netherlands when making a present for a friend. She was encouraged to start her business and create unique, thoughtful books that can be given as gifts to your loved ones. Can you tell us something about yourself?

‘’I’m Kristel Vrolijk, mother of two amazing boys and married to my husband Bas. After a few moves (Rotterdam and Ingolstadt, Germany) we now live in Amsterdam and have been here for almost three years.’’

When and why did you start Boekje voor jou?

‘’I started Boekje voor jou more than 10 years ago when I made a custom booklet for a girlfriend as a maternity gift. Another girlfriend liked it so much that when I heard she was pregnant, I also made a booklet for her. Someone else saw the book and encouraged me to start a business.’’

What is Boekje voor jou about?

‘’Boekje voor jou sells personalised books. The unique books have the name of the receiver on it and you can customize all the text yourself and choose an illustration per page. The story-lines are written as if they happen in real life, but of course, with fun elements. The books are suitable gifts for various occasions such as a maternity gift, birthday or marriage.’’

Who are your customers and how do you promote your website?

‘’Boekje voor jou customers can be both young and old, men and women. They are people who want to give a nice, original, sweet, funny and, above all, personal gift for a birth, birthday or marriage.’’
